I hope you all don't mind that I write in English, but most of all I hope everyone I had a great time.
What a hot night for Streetball wasn't it! It must have been over 35 celsius in the Mikdaohalle.
First of all, I want to send out a very BIG special thanks to all of those who helped set-up, tear down and clean up: Freddy, Kujtim, Danjoll, Flo, Benni etc. And a special thank you to DJ Datze & Kevin D.E.E.P. for getting the music and being the Master of Ceremonies. Great job all you guys. And also thanks very much to Hysen for lending us his music system, although we will have to find away to compensate him for his loss. Very sorry about that. And also a special thanks to Julian and all who helped get the word out over Facebook, etc.
Before I forget, we also need some new ideas to get younger teams in. Attendancein the Over 17 group was outstanding, but Facebook doesn't work to get the younger kids out.
In regards, to the game action The youger teams, 13 and under and the 17 and under teams battled against each other for 3 games. Not surprisingly the older, faster and taller players took 2 games out ouf 3 from the younger up starts.
The Godzillas took first place in the under 13 age group and the Fighting Tigers in the under 17 age group.
In the over 17 age group, there were 12 teams competing which were split into 2 divisions of 6 teams. After several hours of really hot competition, 3 teams dropped out due to the heat and overall exhaustion. However, the top 4-6 teams kept on fighting.
TFB St Wendel took 1 Place in the one semi-final playoff game against the Black Skorpions, who took 3rd.
It was literally a hard fought, especially in the other semi- final game with both teams doing everything to win. Fouls were not hard to find as both teams had their fair share. Seemed like both teams had the motto, "No blood,no foul" attitude. However, in the end, both teams ended up disqualified, due to unsportmanship and technical fouls. At least no punches thrown and only bad mouthing.
Now after midnight and the crowd dwindling the fans wanted to see a Final between the only team left TV Obestein (as ATVS hit the showers), played TFB. TFB won a very close hard fought game and deservedly so as the best streetball team around midnight. In all fairness to ATVS, this would then put them tied for 2nd or 3rd as they never played against the Black Skorpions. We will do this better next year be assured.
The big shot was won by a former local Obersteiner everyone knows as Ahn. And this time it was one very quickly compared to last year with all the lights out and only spot on the basket, Ahn hit big from half court winning 50 Euros! His cousin won it last year too! Amazing.
The Dunking and 3 Point Shot contests were won be the same player for the first time in the existence of the tournament, Jerome Boinquet from TFB.
Congratulations to all the winners and teams who competed and thanks to all the family, friends and relatives who attended and supported the event. Enjoy the pictures.
